APABA Community Outreach

COVID-19 has placed a heavy burden on our community.  Individuals and small businesses are struggling.  APABA wants to do what we can to help during this difficult time.  As part of our APABA Cares Initiative, APABA's Community Outreach Committee has organized the following initiatives and programs:

  • Free Virtual Clinic Hotline: APABA is running a free virtual legal clinic hotline to serve our community's legal needs during this difficult time.  For more information about our hotline, click here
  • Feed a Senior in Need: In July 2020, APABA organized a successful fundraiser, raising enough money to feed 140+ low-income seniors with a meal from Savory Vietnam, a local restaurant. In addition to receiving a meal, the Asian Chamber of Commerce donated masks for the seniors.  It is our hope to organize more fundraisers in the future to bring some much needed resources/relief for our APA community.
  • Puzzles/Games Donation Drive: We are running a puzzles/games donation drive for seniors at VOA Sunset Towers, a low income housing facility, to help alleviate isolation and boredom.  Requesting new or gently used games/puzzles.
  • Senior Pen Pal Program: We are also organizing a pen pal program with the seniors at VOA Sunset Towers.  This is a great way to get your children involved by having them include their own letter or drawing to bring cheer to a senior.
  • Elder Law Clinic:  We organize elder law day clinics where we assist low income seniors in the preparation of crucial estate planning documents.

If you are interested in any of these programs or to receive more information, please reach out to Deborah Yim at dyim@primeralaw.com.
